Lemo 00 Series Equivalent Coaxial Plug — FFY.00.250.CTAC52 Pattern

This connector is a direct equivalent to the Lemo FFY.00.250.CTAC52, part of the 00 series originally developed around the NIM-CAMAC (CD/N 549) standard. The FFY shell style is a straight plug with a larger cable collet housing than the standard FFA, designed to accept thicker cables such as RG58 C/U with an outer diameter of 4.60–5.00 mm. A rubber boot is included for added cable protection at the termination point.

Like all 00 series connectors, it features a push-pull self-latching mechanism for quick, tool-free connection and disconnection with a simple axial motion. The housing is brass with a chrome-plated shell and collet nut, and nickel-plated latch sleeve and mid pieces — matching the construction of genuine Lemo CTAC-series connectors. The single 50 Ω coaxial contact is solder-terminated with a PTFE insulator, rated at 4 A with a contact resistance of 6.1 mΩ max. Test voltage is rated at 2.1 kV rms (2,100 V AC / 3,000 V DC).

The 00 series was originally conceived for nuclear instrumentation and particle physics research, where high connector packing density on patch panels is essential. These connectors are now widely used across test and measurement, broadcast, medical, and aerospace applications wherever a reliable miniature 50 Ω coaxial interface is needed. The FFY variant is particularly useful where a heavier-duty cable like RG58 is required for longer runs or lower-loss connections, while still mating with the same compact 00 series receptacles.

This equivalent is fully cross-compatible with genuine Lemo 00 series receptacles and mating connectors, providing a cost-effective alternative without compromising on mechanical or electrical performance. Rated IP50, it is intended for indoor and protected environments.
