Product Description
Connector P.E.T. 100 Plug for RG62 / RG59 – Jye Bao CM3100-0062
The CM3100-0062 is a Connector P.E.T. 100 Plug designed for high-voltage signal and bias connections on coaxial cable. It terminates RG62 (93Ω) and RG59 (75Ω) cable and provides the classic PET-100 / PET100 interface found on detector heads and instrumentation across multiple industries.
Applications by sector
Education and teaching laboratories
School and university physics departments use this P.E.T. 100 connector on Geiger–Müller tube holders and radiation demonstration equipment. This plug allows repair or replacement of worn cables on existing counters and scalers without modifying the instrument.
Scientific research
Research laboratories use PET-100 connections for photomultiplier tube (PMT) bias supplies, scintillation detector assemblies (NaI, CsI, plastic scintillators), and custom detector builds. Applications include spectroscopy, fluorescence lifetime measurement, cosmic ray detection and particle physics instrumentation.
Medical and diagnostic equipment
Legacy gamma cameras, well counters and scintillation-based diagnostic instruments may use PET-100 interfaces for detector head connections. This connector supports maintenance and repair of older equipment still in clinical or research service.
Nuclear monitoring and environmental detection
Survey meters, portal monitors, contamination detectors and environmental radiation monitoring stations often retain PET-100 connections from original manufacture. This plug enables field repair and cable replacement.
Industrial and energy
Radiation detection systems in oil and gas well logging, non-destructive testing (NDT) and process monitoring may incorporate PET-100 interfaces, particularly on equipment of UK or European origin.
Technical summary
- Connector type: P.E.T. 100 plug (cable mount, crimp)
- Manufacturer: Jye Bao
- Manufacturer P/N: CM3100-0062
- Cable compatibility: RG62 (93Ω), RG59 (75Ω) and equivalent HV coax
- Body and shell: Brass with plated finish
- Dielectric: PTFE (Teflon)
- Centre contact: Brass with gold over nickel-phosphorous over copper plating
- Interface seal: Silicone gasket at mating face
- Termination method: Crimp braid ferrule, soldered centre pin
- Overall length: Approx. 37.1 mm
- Max body diameter: Approx. 12.7 mm (knurled grip section)
Cable compatibility and termination
This connector suits solid or stranded centre conductors and standard jacket diameters for RG62 and RG59 cable families. Termination requires a crimp tool with 0.320″ hex die (such as the HT-336F) for the braid ferrule, plus a temperature-controlled soldering iron for the centre pin.
Assembly overview
- Slide the rear nut and crimp ferrule onto the cable before beginning any cuts.
- Strip the cable so that the braid extends slightly beyond the inner PTFE dielectric – this allows the braid to be fed through the connector body.
- Insert the prepared cable into the connector body, pull the braid through and fit the braid ring / metal clip, then trim the braid flush.
- Cut the dielectric and inner conductor to the recommended lengths and fit the PTFE spacer(s) as supplied.
- Solder the centre conductor to the contact pin and push the pin fully into the insulator.
- Slide the crimp ferrule over the braid and crimp using the specified hex die size.
- Fit the remaining PTFE spacer and tighten the shell and body together to complete the assembly.
For step-by-step photos, measurements and tips, refer to our illustrated guide Fitting P.E.T. connectors (CM3100-0062) to RG59 cable or contact us if you would prefer RFShop to supply fully assembled PET-100 cables.
Recommended tooling
- Crimp tool: HT-336F or equivalent with 0.320″ hex die for the braid ferrule
- Temperature-controlled soldering iron and fine electronic solder for the centre pin
- Standard cable prep tools (coax stripper, side cutters, scalpel) and heat-shrink tubing for strain relief / identification
Related connector types
The P.E.T. 100 connector serves similar applications to MHV and SHV high-voltage connectors but uses a different mating interface. For new installations where backward compatibility is not required, SHV connectors offer improved safety features with recessed contacts. However, PET-100 remains essential for maintaining and repairing existing equipment where the original interface must be retained.
