Overview
The AL-A3A3 is a JyeBao-manufactured SMA plug-to-plug right-angle in-series adapter. Both ends are SMA plugs (male, pin contact), mated at 90° for low-profile coupling in space-constrained installations — panel-mounted equipment, stacked rack enclosures, test-bench feedthroughs, and any situation where a straight cable run collides with the chassis or a neighbouring connector.

Cross-series mating
The AL-A3A3 is mechanically compatible with both 2.92 mm and 3.5 mm connectors at both ends — useful in mixed test-equipment environments, though electrical performance is specified at the 10 GHz SMA bandwidth. For higher-frequency work (18 GHz and above), use a dedicated 2.92 mm or 3.5 mm adapter rated for the full bandwidth.
Torque and handling
Recommended coupling-nut torque is 4 in-lbs (approximately 0.45 Nm). Use a calibrated SMA torque wrench where repeatable connections matter. Over-torquing a right-angle adapter stresses the 90° transition and can affect VSWR performance; under-torquing leaves the joint susceptible to intermittent contact and RF leakage.
Grade and suitability
This is a commercial-grade adapter rated for ≥100 mating cycles. It’s well-suited to permanent or semi-permanent installations, routine bench work, and prototype assembly. For high-cycle test benches (VNA calibration fixtures, production test jigs, or any setup with frequent reconnection), specify a dedicated precision test adapter — those are rated for 5,000+ cycles and use hardened stainless-steel coupling nuts.
