Built to your specification
Custom coaxial cable assemblies
RFShop builds made-to-length RF, coaxial and high-voltage cable assemblies for test benches, installations, repairs and specialist equipment. Send the connector pair, cable type, length and quantity, or start with what you know and we will help fill in the gaps.
Not sure where to start? If you already know the build, head straight to the quote form. If you need an off-the-shelf lead, check ready-made assemblies first. If you are still working out the connector or cable, use the guides below before you order.
✓ 3-4 day typical turnaround for small batches
✓ Connector, cable and length guidance
✓ Certificates of conformance available
✓ UK build support and worldwide shipping
Find the right starting point
Use this as a quick check before filling in the form. Some enquiries are ready for a custom quote, while others are faster to solve by checking stocked assemblies, cable compatibility or connector identification first.
| If you need | Start here | Best when |
|---|---|---|
| A made-to-length cable assembly | Request a custom cable quote | You know the connector pair, cable type, finished length and quantity, or you can describe the application well enough for us to recommend a specification. |
| A stocked finished lead | Ready-made cable assemblies | You need a common connector combination or length and want to check whether an existing RFShop assembly will do the job. |
| Loose connectors for your own build | Coaxial cable connectors | You are repairing, prototyping or assembling in-house and need plugs, jacks, right-angle, bulkhead, crimp, clamp or solder variants. |
| Bulk cable to terminate | Coaxial cable by the metre | You need unterminated cable for workshop stock, test leads, harnesses, installations or repeat cable sets. |
| A cable and connector fit check | Connector compatibility guide | You know the cable or connector family but need to confirm which parts fit before ordering. |
| Help identifying a connector | Connector identification guide | You have an old antenna lead, instrument cable, sensor lead, equipment port or photo and need to narrow down the connector family. |
Lead times and pricing
Custom cable pricing depends on the connector pair, cable type, length, build complexity and quantity. Small batches using in-stock components are usually fastest; larger batches and unusual parts may need supplier lead time.
1-9 cables
Typical turnaround: 3-4 working days when all components are in stock.
Best for: urgent repairs, prototypes, replacement leads, test setups and small project batches.
10+ cables
Typical turnaround: 1-2 weeks depending on stock, tooling, cable type and connector availability.
Best for: installation batches, repeat builds, engineering spares and procurement orders.
Volume or planned orders
Planning window: 6+ weeks lead time can help with component sourcing and may allow better pricing.
Best for: scheduled builds, repeat cable sets, contractor work and purchasing teams.
Custom assemblies start from £12. For an exact quote, send the specification or use the form below.
What goes into a custom cable
A good cable assembly is more than two connectors on a length of coax. We help match the connector, cable, length, bend radius, finish and documentation to how the lead will actually be used.
Made-to-length RF leads
One-off replacements, prototype leads and repeat cable sets built to the finished length you specify, with guidance on how to measure the cable consistently.
Connector and cable matching
We check that the connector style suits the cable diameter, termination method and application: straight, right-angle, bulkhead, plug, jack and reverse polarity variants.
Low-loss and test cables
Assemblies for antennas, instruments, enclosures and test setups using common RG and low-loss cable families, with straightforward guidance where flexibility, loss or cable diameter affects the choice.
High-voltage and specialist leads
SHV, MHV, HN, Kings and instrumentation-style assemblies where voltage, handling and equipment context need to be understood before the build is quoted.
Protection and strain relief
Heat shrink, strain relief boots, sleeving or conduit where suitable, especially for outdoor, marine, lab or installation work where the cable will be moved or exposed.
Sourcing and certificates
If the exact component is not on the shelf, we can source alternatives or equivalents. For repeat or scheduled builds we can quote in planned batches, and certificates of conformance are available on request.
If you are replacing an existing lead, photos are often enough to get started: connector face, side profile, cable markings and any part number or label on the equipment.
What to send for a fast quote
The more detail you send, the faster RFShop can quote accurately. If you do not know a detail, write “recommend” or describe the equipment and application.
Connector A
- Series: SMA, N-Type, BNC, SHV, Microdot, etc.
- Plug or jack gender.
- Straight or right-angle.
- Bulkhead, reverse polarity or special format.
Connector B
- Same details as Connector A.
- Mating equipment model or part number.
- Panel, instrument, antenna or sensor side.
- Photo if matching an existing lead.
Cable and length
- Cable type, or “recommend”.
- Finished length required.
- Measurement method, such as tip-to-tip.
- Quantity and repeat order expectation.
Application details
- Frequency, voltage or power if relevant.
- Indoor, outdoor, marine or lab use.
- Flexing, strain relief or bend constraints.
- Certificate or test report requirements.
Specialist cable assemblies
Some builds need a bit more context before quoting: connector fit, voltage rating and application type can all affect the specification. These pages cover the most common specialist areas.
High-voltage assemblies
SHV, MHV, HN, Kings 10, Kings 20 and high-voltage cable assemblies for lab, detector, instrumentation and legacy equipment work.
Microdot and sensor leads
10-32 and 12-32 Microdot connectors, BNC-to-Microdot leads, accelerometer cables, sensor leads and instrumentation cable builds.
Push-pull equivalents
JyeBao alternatives for selected LEMO and Huber+Suhner push-pull connector and cable requirements.
Request a custom cable quote

Custom cable assembly FAQs
What information do I need to request a custom cable assembly quote?
For an accurate quote, provide the connector type for each end, plug or jack gender, straight or right-angle format, cable type or application requirement, length, how the length is measured and quantity. If you are unsure, describe the application and RFShop can recommend a suitable specification.
How long does it take to build custom cable assemblies?
For 1-9 cables using in-stock components, typical turnaround is 3-4 working days. Orders of 10 or more cables usually take 1-2 weeks depending on stock and complexity. Projects with 6 or more weeks lead time may qualify for additional discounts.
How much do custom cable assemblies cost?
Custom assemblies start from £12, depending on connector types, cable specification, length and quantity. RFShop provides exact quotes after receiving the requirements.
What types of custom cables can RFShop build?
RFShop builds RF, coaxial and high-voltage cable assemblies using connector families including SMA, N-Type, BNC, TNC, SHV, MHV, HN, Kings 10, Kings 20, DIN, 4.3-10, Microdot, MCX, MMCX, FME, Fakra and others. Common cable types include RG series, LMR-style low-loss cables, semi-rigid and rigid coax, subject to connector compatibility and stock.
Can RFShop help if I do not know the connector or cable type?
Yes. Send photos of the connector face, side profile, rear termination, any cable markings and the equipment or application details. RFShop can help identify likely connector families and recommend suitable cable options.
Can I get a certificate of conformance with my custom cables?
Yes, certificates of conformance are available for custom cable assemblies on request.
Does RFShop ship custom cable assemblies internationally?
